	One of the primary changes for coding for hypertension in the International Classification of Diseases-10th Revision (ICD-10) is that providers no longer will have to document whether the patient’s hypertension is benign or malignant.

	Hypertension is a condition that can exist for years without any signs or symptoms. Below are the ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnosis codes for hypertension and associated conditions.
